Parents & Friends Association - 6 December 2017

The last P&F meeting for 2017 was held on Monday 20 November. This was a planning meeting for 2018.

Lots of great fun ideas were put forward for next year, so we look forward to bringing those events to you.

Thank you to all the P&F Committee who attend the meetings each month, and to those that cannot attend, but send in their suggestions. It is greatly appreciated.

So much time and effort is given from the P&F Committee throughout the year to hold the many functions and fundraisers for the school.  We have a lot of fun, and we have a great team who all enjoy these functions just as much as the children.

And a special thanks also to the parent volunteers we call upon for help throughout the year. Thank you so very much.

Thank you also to Mr VL, who has tirelessly given up his time for events that the P&F have held throughout the year.

Thanks and enjoy your holidays. Stay safe.

FAIR UPDATE

** Thank you, we raised over $14 000 for our school!! ** What an amazing turnout we had at our School Fair.  It was wonderful to have the sun shining and see so many families enjoying the evening. We would like to say a big thank you to all those who volunteered their time on the day, or in the preparation in the lead up to Fair day. Thank you also to our school families for their generous donations of toys, books, tombola, lollies, cakes and items for the grade stalls. Thank you to Eastern Shore Veterinary Hospital, Enzed, Gwen Pinnington Consulting and Little Bee Learning for sponsoring the Petting Zoo, Tas Reptilia, and showbags. Thank you to our huge number of prize donations from many Tasmanian businesses. Without your assistance our Fair could not go ahead.

This year we had a fantastic variety of stalls and attractions. We saw many children enjoying the petting zoo, reptile display, jumping castles, tea cups, face painting, and showbags. It was also fantastic to see the Kinders in the Pedlars Parade selling their wares. Thank you to the parents for their efforts planning the cute costumes and items to sell. The grade stalls were a great addition once again, adding to the variety of stalls on the day. We saw frogs in ponds, lucky dips, delicious Christmas treats, plants, cupcakes, nachos and the popular chocolate coin toss game. The second hand toys and books also proved very popular and the fast sellout tombola stand and new addition- the wine tombola! This year we enjoyed watching some fantastic performances by our school choir, our Merimbula group and from Taekwondo Tasmania. Once again there was a good variety of food stalls, including the delicious South American Papusa Stall run by one of our school families.

The chocolate wheel and lucky pop saw punters winning some great prizes and a number of lucky people snapped up some bargains in the silent auction. During the Fair, we drew our Fair IPad/Lego Raffle and congratulate Gaye Rutherford on winning.

Due to success of this year's Fair, we raised over $14 000 for our school! Our new incoming Principal in 2018, Mr Clynton Scharvi will be in discussions with school staff and the P&F to decide how these funds are best spent.

Here is a breakdown of some of the popular stalls as well as the grade stalls takings, so families can see how their contributions helped raise funds for our school:

Chocolate wheel: $2667, Lucky balloon pop: $565, Silent Auction $927, Raffle: $1229, Kinder pedlars parade: $150, Prep frogs in ponds: $202, Grade 1 lucky dips (plus showbags): $519, Grade 2 plants: $576, Grade 3 Christmas treats: $550, Grade 4 Cupcakes: $323, Grade 5 nachos: $233, Grade 6 choc coin toss: $435, Toys: $569, Tombola $804, Wine tombola: $405, Lollies and choc bingo: $515, Books: $437, Cakes: $561

Once again, thank you to our school community for helping to make this year's School Fair a huge success. From the Fair Committee 2017 Jessica Halliday, Sandra Hallsworth, Claire Symons, Meagan Kitchen, Phil Heaton, Tania Goodey and Zina Callinan.

Catholic Athletics Carnival

Catholic Athletics Carnival 2017

On Friday, some fortunate students participated in the Catholic Athletics Carnival. The day included: a minute silence, some great races, brilliant weather and a fantastic MJR carnival. MJR stands for Making Jesus Real and it means being supportive, being a good sport and trying your best. It was a great day for the track and field events. Everyone enjoyed watching and competing in the events. Everyone tried their very best and some even achieved some impressive placings. We all had an awesome day

Thank you to everyone that helped organise the carnival, and thank you to Mr Brasnja, Mrs McCallum and Mr Midson for helping on the day. Also a massive thank you to Robbie Devine and Lisa Davey for their parent help. Everyone was so encouraging, supportive, and proud of one another’s efforts. Even if you didn't get a ribbon, we all did very well to make it through. Well done to all competitors for the way you represented our school. Congratulations!
