Sacrament of Reconciliation
The Parish are extending the invitation to consider whether the time is right for your child to begin their preparation for the Sacrament of First Reconciliation in Term 4 this year. This is the next step after Baptism and towards the celebration of Confirmation and First Eucharist. With the restrictions caused by the Coronavirus pandemic this year, the preparation program for the sacraments has been severely disrupted. The current Grade 4 students have just completed the Sacrament of Reconciliation and will hopefully proceed with Confirmation and First Eucharist during the course of 2021. If everything goes smoothly, our plan is to complete First Reconciliation with the current Grade 3 students during Term 4 this year, and then run a double program for Confirmation and First Eucharist during 2021. The dates for the preparation program for First Reconciliation are as follows:
Wednesday 14th October 6.00pm: Welcome Event- Parent information and candidate introduction.
Tuesday 20th/Wednesday 21st October 3.30-7.00pm: Faith Sharing Session One.
Tuesday 27th/Wednesday 28th October 3.30-7.00pm: Faith Sharing Session Two.
Tuesday 3rd/Wednesday 4th November 6.00pm: First Reconciliation celebration.

The faith sharing sessions are run over two afternoons each time to allow maximum flexibility. A parent accompanies their child to the session for one hour at any time between 3.30 and 7.00pm on either night, for a total of 2 hours preparation time. This timetable sees the entire program condensed into four weeks. Please make a note of these dates now in order to increase the chances of completing the program with your child. The ‘new’ approach to the preparation program is flexible and engaging, and you will find the activities relevant and accessible. Along with the Parish Sacramental Team, Father RIchard is very much looking forward to sharing the journey with you and your child as you explore together the wonderful gifts of faith and forgiveness as we discover the power and presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives and as we grow in our understanding of what it means to be people of love and service after the example of Jesus. Please register your interest in this Sacramental program by contacting the Bellerive-Lindisfarne Parish Office on 6245 0501 between 2.00-3.00pm or email bellerive@aohtas.org.au by the end of Term 3, Friday 25th September.
